PUMA and Ghana Extend Partnership until 2014

PUMA and the Ghana Football Association (GFA) today announced a multi-year extension of their successful partnership through the 2014 FIFA World Cup™. The deal is estimated to be worth as much as $25 million (£12.7 million).

The announcement was made by PUMA CEO Jochen Zeitz and GFA President Kwesi Nyantakyi during a special ceremony in Ghana’s capital of Accra that took place one day after a stunning and colorful opening ceremony and Ghana’s 2:1 opening victory over Guinea. "Ghana was one of the most inspiring stories of the 2006 World Cup™, capturing the world’s attention with their exciting style of play and passion for the game," said Zeitz.

This week Brazil went back to the 29th of June 1958 for the official brazil 08/09 away kit launch. 2 stars of the Brazilian team of 1958, Zito and Djalma Santos were special guests at the launch party.

Rio de Janeiro was dancing to the sound of bossa nova and the star of the party was the blue shirt. It was in this scene that Nike launched the new 08/09 away shirt of the Brazilian National team.

Being a great admirer of football kits, it seems increasingly annoying that kit manufactures design their kits in such a similar fashion. Take recent Puma kits for example.

With the two kits below, Ghana 2008/2009 and Senegal 2008/2009, you can see too many similarities to make the kits seem unique and give the team, itself, their own identity. These two kits are virtually identical. Apart from the colours of the Puma logos, and the golden sleeve outline on the Senegal kit, it actually seems impossible to tell the difference. The countries team emblems even look similar.

We have showed you some great pictures of the new New Brazil Away 08/09 Nike football shirt about a month ago, and today the CBF officially launched their new blue away shirt for the 08/09 season. Like the new home shirt it's also inspired on the uniform used in 1958 and has yellow name & numbers.

Two world champions, Djalma Santos and Zito, have been invited for the official launch party. The Shirt will be first worn in the commemorative game against Sweden, on 26 of March, in London. The design of the new shirt was influenced by the shirt used in the match against Sweden, on 29 of June of 1958.
