Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon said the club will soon sign the biggest shirt sponsorship contract in world soccer.

MADRID, Spain (AP) -Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon said the club will soon sign the biggest shirt sponsorship contract in world soccer.

Calderon did not name the new sponsor, which will replace BenQ, the German handset business of Taiwan's BenQ Corp. which has gone bankrupt.

He gave no details of the amount involved.

"Now we have to change sponsor. In a week, we will sign for a sum which is unequaled by anyone," Calderon was quoted as saying by daily El Pais on Tuesday.

Aston Villa have secured a long-term deal with Nike who will become the club's official sportswear partner from the 2007-2008 campaign.

The deal will see Nike supply Villa's playing and replica kit in addition to a full range of branded sportswear and accessories.

Villa's new chief executive Richard FitzGerald told: 'This is a significant step forward for the club off the field and we're delighted to have Nike partnering with us.

'The association will help us to drive the club forward. The brand sits perfectly with the new board's vision for Aston Villa and we're looking forward to working with Nike in the future.'

West ham have struck a deal with umbro to be thier new kit maufacturers: West Ham's kit will be manufactured by British firm Umbro from next season.

The tie-up was announced in London as the Hammers come to the end of their three-year deal with Reebok. It will be the first time that West Ham have worn an Umbro kit - although the Cheadle-based firm did produce a kit for the club in the late 60s which was never worn.

In a media briefing at the Jalan Besar Stadium on Tuesday, the Football Association of Singapore (FAS) and Tiger Beer announced their five year strategic partnership with global sports brand Nike.

The partnership, effective immediately, starts with Nike kitting the Singapore National Team, Under-23, Under-21 and Young Lions with their home, away and training outfits. The deal also extends to all teams and academies under the FAS umbrella over the five year period.

Associate Professor Ho Peng Kee, President of the FAS says: "The FAS is delighted to welcome Nike as our partner. The strategic alliance will give us the opportunity to leverage the resources, experience and network of global sports icon Nike and the world acclaimed Tiger Beer."

Swindon Town announced that kit makers Lotto will be supplying the new home and away shirts from the 2007-08 campaign.

The new 2-year deal with the kit making giants will bring to an end the current deal with Lonsdale and will see the improved financial terms benefit the club.

Italian sports brand Lotto, who have signed a two year deal, will replace Lonsdale as the new kit makers and have selected two home and two away strips to pick from.
