Feyenoord will change sponsor

Feyenoord, who signed a Puma kit deal 3 weeks ago, will probably stop wearing the current Fortis logo on the chest after this season's winter break. The bank has a "bad name" because of the credit crisis and would now like to see a different name on the shirt. However, not much will change as the new sponsor name will be FortisASR.

FortisASR is the insurance side of the Fortis group. Fortis has been Feyenoord's main sponsor since 2004. Prior to that date, Fortis subsidiary Stad Rotterdam Verzekeringen, now Fortis ASR, had been the main sponsor of the Rotterdam club for thirteen years.

If the change is not during the winter competition break, it will be at the end of this season

Feyenoord and Fortis had already agreed a deal which sees that Fortis will also be on the shirt next season.

The Dutch government nationalized the Dutch activities of embattled Belgian-Dutch banking group Fortis last month in a 16.8 billion euro deal to ease pressures from the global financial crisis.

Fortis has been the main sponsor of Anderlecht Football Club in Belgium since 1981 and has sponsored the Turkish FA Cup since 2005.
