Huddersfield Town new Mitre kit and sponsor 2007/2008

Huddersfield Town have revealed the kit that will be worn by Andy Ritchie's blue and white army next season!

For Town's new 2007/08 home kit, manufacturer Mitre have struck an arresting blend between the traditional and the modern.

The design has a classical look which is combined with a unique, technologically advanced 'Cool Fit' system.

The system is designed to be lightweight to give freedom of movement and has mesh panels down the side are positioned to allow heat to dissipate and cooler air to circulate whilst body moisture is transferred from the skin to the mesh.

Naturally, the shirt encompasses all of the vital aspects of any Huddersfield Town kit, along with some interesting new design features.

The most important part of the shirt is the traditional blue and white stripes which are noticeably different to last season.

The stripes are thicker and darker than last season and have a white, rather than blue stripe down the centre. The Club's new sponsor, CasinoRed.com, can be clearly seen on the front.

Last season's design saw the stripes continue on the back of the shirt, whereas Mitre have taken the design in a more practical direction. The back of the shirt is now plain white - allowing for the names and numbers of the players to be seen more clearly.

Perhaps the most noticeable difference on the front of the shirt is the crest which is now in a more traditional shield-shaped badge, rather than being embroidered onto the shirt. The three stars proudly representing the hattrick of Championship wins in the 1920s have been retained.

The shirt has a white rounded collar, coming to a point at the front.

Moving away from the shirt, the shorts are white and striking, hooped socks complete the traditional design. The kit is expected to be on sale on June 30 2007. To pre-order call 01484 484144, visit a store or order online at www.stadiumsuperstore.co.uk

"Following months of discussions with Mitre we believe that the new kit combines the best of a retro look with a modern feel to that of any previous Huddersfield Town home shirt.

We have kept the traditional blue and white stripes on the front and incorporated a plain white back which features heavily in the Premiership and Championship. We believe that this attractive new shirt will appeal to supporters of all ages."

CASINO Red are keen to make their Town sponsorship a minimum three-year deal.

The gaming company were unveiled yesterday as the club's major new backers and will be involved in a number of new matchday initiatives.

There will be a strong on-line link between the two organisations on a daily basis for the firm, who are planning to open a casino in Northumberland Street in November.

And Casino Red's chief executive officer, Nicholas Boyes-Hunter said: "The infrastructure at the club is for at least Championship football.

"We believe the things we can do together will help to attact more fans, with initiatives to enhance the matchday excitement and atmosphere

"I'm a local lad, so it wasn't a difficult decision for us to want to get involved at Town, and we are hoping it will be a very successful partnership.

"We have agreed an initial year, but we are very excited about the prospect of taking it to three years and beyond.

"The way the deal is set up at the moment, there are some revenues involved and we will be closely monitoring those to ensure that we are meeting our proposed targets and revenues the club are expecting.

"Should they be better or worse, then obviously we are going to sit down and we will review things.

"Our intention is certainly to try and achieve a three-year deal, but we will have to monitor things closely."

Town's director of business development, Sean Jarvis, explained: "Over the coming months we are dedicating a resource within the stadium to develop the relationship.

"We are looking at how we can ensure our targets are met and how we can add something extra to the matchday experience. I suppose you could say we are looking at innovative approaches to help communicate Casino Red to our supporters."

The new deal, which replaces the previous shirt deal with Yorkshire Building Society, had taken three months to reach fruition.

"Casino Red are full of new ideas and forward thinking and are keen to develop their brand through the fabric of the club," added Jarvis.

"It's a record shirt sponsorship deal and part of that is linked to revenue generated through our website.

"Once the agreement comes into place on June 1, we will see features on there so that supporters can take advantage of the .com business which is part of the Casino Red brand. It's an exciting new venture for the club, really, and we are looking forward to the partnership and to putting our plans into place."

So what of the current stadium bookmaker?

Boyes-Hunter answered: "We are in discussions with the club and the current bookmaker about his licence to see what possible joint ventures we can do with them."

Huddersfield Town and Mitre giving away a prototype shirt  07/08

To celebrate the partnership of Huddersfield Town Football Club and new kit manufacturers Mitre, the Terriers are offering the chance for one lucky supporter to win a piece of Huddersfield Town history - guaranteed that no other supporter will ever own!

In partnership with Mitre we are giving away a prototype shirt from the 2007/08 season.

You will all have seen the new home kit for the 2007/08 season. During the process of producing the new Huddersfield Town kits, the design goes through many design stages - starting off with sketches and then progressing through to computer-illustrated designs, where badges and sponsors are added. The prototype in question was manufactured before new sponsors CasinoRed.com came on board, hence the Yorkshire Building Society logo. The other change to the front of the shirt is that the three stars, representing the hattrick of Championship wins in the 1920s have not been added.

The back of the shirt has 'Booth - 23' printed on it and, of course, we will have it signed by legend and Mr. Huddersfield Town himself, Andy Booth.

All you need to do to be in with a chance of winning is to collect two tokens from the final two home programmes of the season, against Millwall this Saturday and the final game of the season against Leyton Orient on May 5.

About the Huddersfield Town and Mitre deal

Huddersfield Town and Mitre have announced a four-year partnership that will see the British sports brand supply the Club with home and away kits, training and bench wear until May 2011.

The deal encompasses Huddersfield Town’s Centenary season in 2008/09 for which Mitre will produce a special one-off kit to commemorate the club’s 100th Birthday.

Mitre has strong links with the town, the company was founded in Huddersfield in 1817 and enjoys a rich footballing heritage.

Mitre is recognised as the first ever professional supplier & manufacturer of footballs and has been the official ball supplier to the Football League for over a quarter of a century.

After an absence from the football kit design arena, Mitre have re-entered the market, supplying Huddersfield Town as well as Championship club Ipswich Town.

The new deal with Huddersfield Town is a homecoming for both club and the brand – Mitre was kit supplier to the Terriers for the 1999/00 and 2000/01 seasons.

The design of Town’s new 2007/08 kit is being kept under-wraps in readiness for a grand unveiling on Monday April 16th.

Huddersfield Town Director of Business Development, Sean Jarvis, said: ‘We are delighted to have Mitre on board and have high expectations of the new partnership. Mitre and Huddersfield go back a long way. I firmly believe the fans will be really impressed when they see the design and quality of the products that we plan to produce with Mitre and will also be pleased that we have chosen to work with an organisation whose heritage is firmly rooted in the Town".

Retail Manager, Michele Adamson, said: "Following the overwhelming success of the current home shirt and having been involved with Mitre and the design of the kit, we believe the exciting new kit will appeal to supporters both young and old."

Gary Hibbert, Mitre Managing Director, said: "The links that Mitre has with the town of Huddersfield meant we were always keen to sign a partnership with the Club. They are a fantastic community Club with an excellent and knowledgeable fan base – I am sure they will be pleased with the new kit designs.
