After unveiling their away kit earlier, Sunderland now unveiled their new Umbro home kit , which will be officially launched on Thursday July 26.
The umbro strip , which will be worn by Roy Keane's players in the Premiership next season bears the name of new club sponsor, Boylesports on the front of the shirt. Fans can get further information about the official kit launch event on the official website. pre-order information see safc.com today,
Sunderland began playing in an all-blue kit , then red and white halved shirts, settling on red-and-white stripes in 1887, parading this new kit in a game against Notts Mellors. The red and white stripes can be traced back to a gift from fellow North East team South Bank FC who helped Sunderland out when they faced financial difficulties.

They donated a set of red-and-white striped kits, complete with black shorts, and Sunderland have been wearing those colours ever since. They have just got a new full white away kit for the seasons 2007/08 and continues a tradition of Sunderland AFC wearing white (SAFC wore white on the first game at Roker Park in 1898).
The Sunderland AFC Crest
Sunderland AFC's crest was unveiled in July 1997, to coincide with the opening of the club's magnificent new home, the Stadium of Light. The club wanted to ensure that the distinctive crest paid tribute to the club's loyal supporters by including images from across the region. The crest includes a central shield which is divided into quarters, two of these featuring unmistakable regional landmarks. The Wearmouth Bridge, featured in the bottom right of the shield, links the north and south of the city, while Penshaw monument, in the top left, is a well-known landmark and is included to acknowledge the depth of support for the team outside the City boundaries.
The two remaining quarters proudly boast the internationally recognised red and white stripes of Sunderland AFC.Supporting either side of the crest are a pair of majestic lions which also feature on the City of Sunderland's coat of arms - a reference to the long tradition of mutual support between two great institutions. A colliery wheel crowns the club crest in honour of the strong mining traditions of County Durham and acts as a reminder that the Stadium of Light lies on land once occupied by Wearmouth Colliery.
Entwined with the colliery wheel is the club motto, "Consectatio Excellentiae " "In pursuit of excellence",a fitting inspiration to the team and its supporters.
