"It’s a really nice kit, I’m really impressed," said skipper Steven Gerrard. "You never know what to expect when going from one sponsor to another, but I’m very impressed.
"It’s retro, it’s comfortable, it’s good on the eye and the yellow is back which, of course, is the natural colour of the Liverbird.
"The players look forward to seeing the new kit as much as the fans. It’s very important that the players are happy wearing it. The fans pay good money and I’m sure they’ll be as happy with it as I am."
Goalkeeper Pepe Reina expressed his delight after discovering his first choice colours at Anfield next season will be green.
"It’s an old fashioned goalkeeping top, like from the glory days – so hopefully it can help bring the glory days back for us," he said.
"My father always said to me goalkeepers have to wear green. If you wear a bright colour it can attract the attention of attackers, but with green it's like I’m going undercover!
"The idea was to go back to the past and for me it’s a pleasure to wear the same colour kit as the likes of Clemence and Grobbelaar.
"It’s important for all of us to see the new kit – it’s the start of a new era. I feel very proud to be at Liverpool. It’s my seventh season here and hopefully there will be many more."
And for Craig Bellamy, the new-look home shirt tips a nod to our glorious past while hopefully being symbolic of a successful future.
"It reminds me of the Liverpool kits from the seventies and early eighties and I’m going to be very fortunate to wear it,” added the Welsh striker.
"It’s a throwback to the earlier years when I was growing up watching Liverpool.
"At clubs like Liverpool the kits are always nice. It’s such an important jersey to wear, it means a lot. It’s a new era."
For the final word, we go back to the skipper who admits the buzz of wearing Liverpool colours remains as strong as ever.
"It makes me feel proud to wear the Liverbird on my chest," added Gerrard. "I am living the dream captaining one of the biggest clubs in the world and the club I have supported all my life.
"From a young boy I’ve always looked forward to seeing the new kits and now I’m wearing them it’s a special feeling."
