Netherlands World Cup 2014 Nike 125th Anniversary Home Football Kit

This is the new Netherlands Home football shirt and kit, by Nike, to be worn in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

The commemorative shirt - celebrating the 125th Anniversary of the Dutch football association, the KNVB - is in a plain classic Dutch orange with a new, retro-styled, crest as a simple but bold white lion.

Returning to the classic approach of showing the whole lion (along with the KNVB dates of 1889-2014), and now moving the official association's detail of the crown to the inside of the collar, is a return to the style of the classic kits from the 70s and 80s.  Previous kit leaks had suggested the shirt would also feature an apparent homage to the 1988 version (worn during Euro 88 glory) by way of a patterned watermark, but the final version does not especially echo that adidas style.

On the players' shirts - and personalised replicas - Dutch graphic designer and typographer Wim Crouwel has created a new font and numbering effect - again a nod to Dutch national team prowess in the 1970s.

The shorts - in Nike's new slimmer cut - are in white, and the socks in orange, though the Netherlands may be required to wear all orange during the Brasil 2014 tournament proper.

As usual with Nike kits, Nike Dri-FIT technology, laser cut ventilation and wicking textures are included to help the players' performance, and the kit is made almost entirely from recycled polyester via recycled plastic bottles.

Whilst it's taken all of 30 seconds s to design, it's actually pretty elegant and I really do quite like it.
