Portugal World Cup 2014 Nike Centenary Home Football Kit

This is the new Portugal Home shirt and kit, by Nike, to be worn at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

The shirt, which also commemorates the 100th anniversary of the Federação Portuguesa de Futebol (FPF - Portuguese football governing body) via a special crest with the dates "1914-2014", has a tonal design of dark and bright red horizontal stripes, varying in size, and confirms earlier design mockups and leaks.  The shirt is finished with dark red V-neck collar and cuffs with green trim.

Inside the the neck there is a print referencing Portugal’s seafaring history with an Armillary Sphere navigation tool.  This detail is included to mark the return of the Portuguese, in the World Cup, to a land they colonised centuries ago.

Cristiano Ronaldo described wearing the shirt as giving him "a real sense of pride — representing the fans, family and friends.”

The players' shirts, and personalised replicas, will carry a custom font which is a modern take on Art Deco lettering, and the new shorts, slimmer cut than previous versions, are in dark red, as are the socks.

As with all of the Nike World Cup kits, Nike Dri-FIT technology, mesh panels and laser-cut ventilation holes are included to give the players the best chance of performing to the best of their abilities in Brazil, and the kit has been manufactured using recycled polyester from recycled plastic bottles.
