The usual red shirt has a gradient stripe watermark design with gold stripes and details - in monochrome - and is now combined with red shorts and socks.  The traditional blue shorts have been dispensed with, following the pattern of recent adidas kits being largely "one-colour".

The gold is said to relate to the glorious recent period of the Spanish national team, where they have won two European Championships (2008 and 2012) and the last World Cup (2010). The goalkeeper kit is in two shades of blue.

Why couldn't they keep the blue shorts under the 'one light/one dark kit' rule.
FIFA need to explain exactly why they've done this and why countries feel the need to release kits that adhere to it. Just wear alternate shorts in the World Cup if necessary! England will.
