Watford's 2014-15 away kit harks back to the colours of 1914, as we remember the Hornets' dozen who served in World War One...
As the 2014-15 away kit launches, a tribute to the kit first worn in 1914, Watford FC confirms that it is working in support of The Royal British Legion to remember its 12 ex-players who served their country a century ago.
Watford's players will wear the black & white striped shirt for whichever home fixture is scheduled nearest to Remembrance Sunday in early November, with the traditional Royal British Legion matchday bucket collection - and other special commemorative activities to be confirmed - being planned for this matchday.
“We wanted to mark with significance the 100 year anniversary of the start of the First World War, as we were aware 12 of our former players served their country," says Hornets' CEO Scott Duxbury.
“Paying our respects by donating to The Royal British Legion, while replicating the 1914 kit as faithfully as possible, was an idea everyone here at the club supported from the start.”
