PSV revealed the club’s brand new Umbro away kit for the 2018/19 campaign. The design inspiration for the new kit came from the 1988 kit, the year in which PSV won the European Cup I.
Guus Hiddink’s PSV beat Benfica 6-5 on penalties to win the 1987/88 European Cup I in Stuttgart on 25 May 1988, the biggest prize in the club’s history.
Exactly thirty years later, PSV want to mark this anniversary and have decided, in close co-operation with kit supplier Umbro, to launch a new away kit. The designer has been inspired by the kit worn in 1988 when PSV were enjoying their most successful campaign ever.

There was unanimous agreement not to make an exact replica of the 1988 kit but launch an up-to-date interpretation, including a clear reference to that successful year. The virgin white shirt with blue details will definitely ring a bell. There were diagonal shadow stripes on the 1988 shirt. A graphic pattern has been developed for the 2018/19 version. There is a graphic detail under the sleeve referring to the match day in Stuttgart when PSV beat Benfica on penalties. And as a matter of course, an awesome and unique printing has been created on this shirt.
