Sheffield United 2018-19 Adidas Home Kit

Sheffield United Football Club revealed the new home kit by Adidas for the 2018/19 season.

With a continuation of the club's partnership with kit supplier adidas, United also welcome a new front of shirt sponsor, Ramsdens Currency, along with long-standing sponsor DoorDeals continuing their back of shirt sponsorship for a third successive year.

Technical partner, adidas, commented: "Our current design direction for the upcoming season sees us providing a plain reverse shirt treatment for Sheffield United, and our other partner clubs, who have stripes within their identity. In combination with more tailored and bespoke detailing throughout the kit we believe this will allow us to create more standout designs for our clubs in the UK and we're looking forward to seeing the shirts on pitch in 2018/19."

Having the sponsor's logo in a colour that does not sync in with the rest of the kit, is one the most often repeated crimes against football shirts. It does the sponsor no favours as their name/logo looks out of kilter in it's setting and the shirt style is diminished in the process. When will they learn? Never it seems.:(

@Miltonthesaintsspringerspaniel As Bob24 said it's to do with 'contrasting colours' can't remember if it's on the FA or FIFA/UEFA website but there's a colour wheel of what they view as contrasting. Same reason why Saints need the 3rd kit this year, for games with Newcastle/Watford etc

@Bob24 Black numbers would be perfectly visible on red/white stripes. If you do have to have a contrast, then put the number on a plain patch, with stripes around it, that's acceptable IMO.

My team wears black and gold stripes, and uses white numbers with no problems.

@SG It's to do with contrasting colours. Two colours that are viewed as 'dark' i.e red and black can be striped, just like two colours that are viewed as 'light'. The problem comes when you mix a light and a dark i.e red and white. They cannot be striped. So, yes, it is to do with new rules implemented this season.
