Bolton Wanderers 15/16 Macron "Burnden Disaster" Third Kit

Bolton Wanderers revealed the club’s limited edition third kit to mark the 70th anniversary of the Burnden Disaster.

Manufactured by Macron, the limited edition shirt features the names of the 33 individuals who lost their lives in the Burnden Disaster in March 1946 printed within the fabric.

The custom-made shirt also has the date of the disaster, ’09-03-1946’, embroidered on the back of the collar, with the Lancashire red rose located on the neckline.

A limited number of 1,000 of the royal blue and navy blue hooped shirts will be available for purchase, with each being sold in a special commemorative presentation box. The shirt will remain unsponsored.

Priced at £44.99, £10 from each sale of the shirt will be donated to Bolton Young Persons Housing Scheme, a local charity that supports young people who are homeless in the Bolton Area. A junior version of the shirt is also available which, also complete with presentation box, is priced at £34.99.

The Club’s Head of Commercial, Richard Gough, said: “Our thanks go to Macron for creating what we hope supporters will agree is a fitting tribute to the 33 who lost their lives in the disaster. We would also like to thank ROK Mobile who have requested that the shirt remain unbranded as a mark of respect.

“We had such incredible support from our fans last season with sales of the Blesma shirt raising £10,000 for our limbless veterans and hope that this shirt will sell in equal numbers, raising much needed funds for an exceptionally good local cause.”

Club Chaplain and Head of Bolton Wanderers Community Trust Phil Mason said: “The unveil of the shirt is the first in a number of initiatives that will run throughout the course of the season to mark the anniversary of this tragic event.”

Maybe a retro badge would have been a nice finishing touch, but otherwise i can't fault it.

When I saw the boxed special edition package, the cynic in me said "oh yeah, how much?" I read on. The price is excellent when compared to the crap that Adidas and Nike are churning out for >£50, and as has already been said, a local charity is profiting to the tune of £10 a shirt. This is a win win. Well done Bolton, well done Macron and well done the current shirt sponsor. Nike and Adidas take note.

Absolute CLASS from ROK Mobile. Firstly they colour matched for the home and away kits, and now agreed to not feature on the 3rd. Fantastic.

Looks great and great that they're giving so much of the shirt price to charity. Proper class.
