Germany 2018 World Cup Adidas Home Kit

Germany 2018 World Cup Adidas Home Kit

In 1990, West Germany defeated Argentina to complete a hat trick of FIFA World Cup titles - and the home design worn that summer provides the inspiration for this official Germany 2018 Adidas Home Shirt.

Made with sweat-sweeping climalite technology, this Germany jersey is most notable for its revived chest pattern - reinterpreting the band style used by Beckenbauer’s boys in 1990 and representing the German flag by way of its black lines, achieved using three different levels of thickness.

I liked the Euro and 2017 kits better. If you take the 1990 nostalgia away, this is just a boring jersey that looks like an old CRT TV on a blocked channel.

@Wakitaa While the hints on Prussia are correct, those colours even date further back to medieval times when German crusaders wore the white & black of the Teutonic Order, their crest displaying a black cross on a white shield.

Oh and by the way, spot the blue on Italy's flag.

@Wakitaa It comes from the time, when Brandenburg-Prussia was the dominant part of Germany – they inherited the black-white colors from the Teutonic Order.

@Wakitaa The German Flag used to be a black, white and red tri colour (horizontal).

@golyanovo The Netherlands flag used to be orange, white and blue. To make it more visible on the sea on the ships flags, the orange changed into a more red like colour. Orange comes from the connection to the Prince of Oranje Nassau. A bit of history......

@Quasar There's a few nations that wear a colour which isn't on their national flag.
Italy's case is the blue of the old kingdom of Naples.
Always good as a quiz night question...
    Think Japan ??
    Australia ??
    New Zealand ??
    Northern Ireland
There's probably a few other countries too that I don't recall!
Well done on Netherlands ?? comment too, history is interesting ?

@Omi Actually, if that thing that is hidden on the back of the collar was on the front, it would looks a lot more striking.

Great kit, just a shame they couldn’t have used the colours of the ‘tricolor’ like on the original 1990 shirt.

Great kit, just a shame about the FIFA World Cup winners badge in the middle of it, surely putting it on the sleeves would of been a better option
