Glentoran 17/18 Kappa Home Kit

Glentoran have revealed their new Kappa home kit for next season.

The Belfast club has gone retro with the design of their latest shirt, which will go on sale in June.

The green, red and black design harks back to the early 1980s when Oval icons including Jim Cleary, Gary Blackledge, Johnny Jameson, Raymond Morrison, Billy Caskey and Ron Manley starred for the club.

It was during Ronnie McFall's reign that the green colours were reintroduced to the club's kit after almost two decades of white dominating the jersey.

Glentoran won the Irish Cup in 1983 and '85 with the green, black and red kit, and also played Paris St Germain in the UEFA Cup Winners Cup during the 1983/84 season donned in the famous jersey.

In a tribute, both to east Belfast’s most famous sporting son and to a legendary Glentoran side laced with names still revered today on the terraces, the club unveiled this season’s Glentoran home kit with a pilgrimage by the current squad to the childhood home of George Best.

This modern take on a retro classic, brought to you by equipment partners Kappa is sure to be a popular choice amongst both players and supporters alike. The striped styling tracing its lineage all the way back to the blazers of Phoenix Cricket Club from Dublin, whose chance meeting with the fledgling Glentoran side in a Belfast hostelry during the summer of 1882 prompted the selection of their now famous colours.
