West Ham United 2017-18 Umbro Home Kit

West Ham United and Umbro have unveiled the Club’s new Home Kit for the forthcoming 2017/18 Premier League season.

The claret and blue kit takes inspiration from the famous strip worn by Billy Bonds and Trevor Brooking in the 1976 European Cup Winners’ Cup final.

The shirt fronts and collar feature the popular chevron design worn by the Hammers for the first time in their memorable meeting with Anderlecht and throughout the late 1970s. The chevrons also take inspiration from West Ham’s famous crossed Hammers, as well as the London Stadium home, where the iconic floodlights, giant cantilever roof and supporting infrastructure also feature the same triangular shape.

The two-tone claret body is complemented by smart sky blue sleeves featuring the famous running diamond on the shoulder, an iconic staple to Umbro jerseys for decades. Years after its first introduction, the taping returns as a visual statement, now incorporated into the body of the shirt using a lightweight jacquard technology, removing weight and distraction for the player.

Completing the look is a classic Union Jack motif, inspired by the original Thames Ironworks shirt, on the upper reverse of the shirt, which is constructed with great fit and bold styling at the heart of the design.

The white home shorts are tailored with stretch fabrics for maximum comfort and freedom of movement, featuring contrasted diamonds down the side to match the sleeves of the jersey.

Double-welt socks - reverting back to white - feature a claret and blue band adorned with the double diamond to complete a kit that matches the modern day footballer’s high level of performance on the pitch.

I just wish that the diamonds down the sleeves were in contrasting colours (on all the Umbro kits) so it is more noticeable a la the 70's strips.
    Besides that, excellent.

Decent looking kit. Umbro hands down producing best kits. Simplicity is key!

As a massive fan of football shirts of all teams, countries etc etc for years, hats off to Umbro! Again!
I'm a Hearts fan, but I also lived in London for 13 years and as a result I now follow West Ham as well, and boy am I happy this season!
I know NIke own Umbro, so why can Umbro produce bespoke shirts for almost every team they supply, yet Nike are churning out the same template for every club they supply, and just changing the colours to suit the club? Adidas to be fair have produced some nice kits so far but Puma.....lazy, same templates, boring!

So b*o*d* well done to Umbro and keep up the good work!!

Solid and fairly traditional shirt with a tidy and reasonably well known if not very glamourous sponsor, typical West Ham fare. Their will be fancier shirts and much uglier ones but this stands up reasonably well.

Great shirt. Umbro did fantastic work here. Two thumbs up.....way up!

I do miss the castle on the west ham logo // badge though. However, that is not Umbro's fault.

Interesting touch with the two tone V - but will Hammers fans be able to make this out sat 3 miles back from the pitch in their athletics bowl?

Umbro made the last great England shirt in 2000, that template used the contrasting diamond along the sleeves, this shirt although not as good as the Boleyn farewell shirt is pretty good, lots of detail but not to fussy.I was glad to see the back of Umbro when they stopped making the England shirts as I found their last three "tailored by Umbro" offerings bland but now I'ld welcome them back with open arms.

Very nice shirt but absolutely nothing like the Brooking shirt other than the colour scheme

Yes. That'll stop them looking at their shoulders for 90 mins. The weight of that taping must've been an insufferable burden.

Nod to the late 70's. To the West Ham side that lost the final v Anderlecht and got relegated!

    Nice shirt though.

@Wessex Yes the diamonds in claret would have been fantastic, apart from that the chevron is a bit too wide and would have been better half the width

@Jo Not all the same templates is the key.
