Nottingham Forest 2019 Macron 40th Anniversary Shirt

Nottingham Forest 2019 Macron 40th Anniversary Shirt #NottinghamForest #nffc #footballshirt

Nottingham Forest and Macron revealed a special edition shirt to celebrate 40 years since the club's first European Cup victory. Each shirt is individually numbered from 1 to 1,979 and is presented in a commemorative box.

On 30th May 1979 at Munich’s Olympic Stadium, Nottingham Forest’s Trevor Francis scored the goal that gave his team an historic 1-0 victory in the final against Swedish side Malmö FF, allowing captain John McGovern to raise to the sky the first of two consecutive European Cups. Today, the English club and Macron, the technical sponsor of Forest and leader in teamwear manufacturing, have presented a special-edition shirt that celebrates the 40th anniversary of that amazing victory.

This anniversary shirt was created in the classic Nottingham Forest red or ‘Garibaldi red.’ It has a V-neck and a white trim that runs along the collar and the sleeve edges. The backneck is personalized with a red tag that features the club logo. The words CHAMPIONS OF EUROPE 1979 are continuously embroidered inside the collar. On the back of the collar trim, the European Cup (today Champions League) is embroidered in white.

All the names of the players who participated in the 1979 triumph are present in the fabric of the garment, repeatedly printed tone-on-tone sublimation on the right-front side of the shirt, a detail that makes this jersey really unique. The Macron Hero, logo of the Italian brand, is placed also on the right, while on the left side (the side of the heart) there is the crest of Nottingham Forest. The jersey is in a slim-fit cut with micromesh side inserts that allow for maximum breathability.

“The emotions that a jersey may give to the person who wears it is what we are striving for every time we create one of our products -- observed Gianluca Pavanello, Macron CEO – and the Nottingham Forest jersey wants to convey to today’s fans the same emotions from 40 years ago. This is a jersey that fans, today as in those days, will wear with passion and love for the club colours.”

Nottingham Forest were led by the legendary Brian Clough, the manager who stayed in charge of The Reds for 18 years and hired amazing players like Peter Shilton (England’s national-team goalkeeper), Kenny Burns, John Robertson and Trevor Francis. This special shirt celebrates these champions, as well as all the other members of that team.

@DS possibly some truth in that - but I'd rather have something to celebrate than play football in a stadium made of lego, fail at the last hurdle in the play-offs and spend my time molesting sheep

@Realist no taking away any achievements, but its literally every single year its banged on about, while moping around in mid table for the last 20 odd years. club needs to lay off the past a little bit and look forward

    Hi
Just hope the next game shirt is a genuine Garibaldi, no strange collar.
No black (we're not a Man U' clone) . Maybe all Garibaldi but without the white collar.
Always thought the all red shirt looks classy, just white number, name and badge.
    But it won't be.

@totheforest Nope, this isn’t the playing shirt. It’s a one off anniversary shirt and it will not feature any sponsor.

@MrTito Fair and like i said you should celebrate a triumph as my club do, but just feel that whenever talk to a red its always looking back and not forward. for the record im not a sheep and i guess they had to move from a dated baseball ground in fairness

Can’t wait to wear this in our new 80 thousand seater stadium, hopefully the season tickets will remain cheap like last season or I’m won’t be going.
