Southend United unveiled their new Nike Home Kit for the 19/20 for the new League One season.

They have become the fourth team to join Paddy Power’s Save Our Shirt campaign – following Huddersfield Town, Motherwell, and Newport County.

The home shirt by Nike features Dri-FIT technology to help you stay dry, comfortable and focused.

White mesh underarm and shoulder insets give added breathability, allowing airflow to the body.

The shirt also features a hybrid V-neck collar, with white taped seam.

This year the club asked supporters to send in ideas for bespoke elements to make the kit unique to Southend United, and the shirt proudly shows off a couple of fan ideas with SUFC print on back neck and the Essex Saxon Seaxes in-between the year it was formed, 1906. This features on the back tail of the shirt.

The shirt is complimented with navy shorts and white socks.

Ironically, a sponsor would go some way to saving this shirt from being so boring.

It feels like Nike are finally openly admitting that they have run out of ideas.

What is the craic with kits like this - do clubs just buy a load of teamwear online and then get the embroidery done locally.

On the plus side, it is a nice blank canvas for whoever buys the space on the front of the shirt.

They should be wearing an umbro kit. Much better design than the others these day.

@Tim Get it right. Part time captain. He’s lucky he’s even at Southend. He should be back in the local leagues in Australia.

@Name (Required) Agreed. As a Southend supporter this is such a disappointment. I’m just not going to spend good money on something so dull.

Looks like an early 2000s training t shirt. And that neckline looks very tight and uncomfortable.

@Socrates Completely agree . Companies like Macron Errea and Hummel have really uped there game producing some nice kits and unique . Umbro are a bit hit and miss as are Puma . Adidas and Nike seem to be in free fall . Teamwear for most and even there top teams get mundane kits that show little in the way of design .

Why is this template making a comeback? It wasn’t good in 2002, and it hasn’t aged well.

IT'S A STANDARD NIKE TEAMWEAR SHIRT !!!! What is all that marketing rubbish about . A couple of minor details that are hardly noticeable and they are trying to make out it's a unique design . What a load of c##p .
