The away shirt includes bespoke semaphore flags across the inner neck. These flags spell ‘Bristol City Football Club’ in maritime flag alphabet, referencing the city’s rich nautical heritage.
The iconic colours and design, which will carry the club’s new sponsor MansionBet, are inspired by the shirt worn in 1994/95 when the Robins secured a memorable 1-0 FA Cup third round victory at Liverpool, courtesy of Brian Tinnion’s sweetly struck strike.
Since that memorable night in Liverpool, the famous purple and lime colours reappeared for the club’s 2014/15 double-winning season and was then voted the best kit in the English Football League for the 2017/18 campaign. The colours were last worn in 2018/19 as the club’s third kit.
