Stade Malherbe Caen, of France’s Ligue 2, recently released their new, 2020-21 season Away kit by Umbro.
The red shirt has a focal point of the distressed blue cross which has its intersection behind the modern, full-colour crest. Despite the colouring, the shirt design is designed to evoke the St George’s Cross, with the thinking being that it is both the symbol of England, from which manufacturer Umbro hails, and of Normandy, where Caen is located.
Further to this nod to the region, on the hip is a patch with the words “Normands & Conquérants” - Normans & Conquerors - to instil pride and confidence.

Detailing to the all-red kit - Umbro logos and sponsorship branding - appears in white, with the most notable example perhaps being the recoloured Golden Arches of McDonald’s on the shorts.
