Inspired by the iconic 1995-96 Newcastle United Away shirt - referenced periodically in new releases by the English Premier League side, including this season - this is the 2024 “Coming to Toon” Christmas jumper by Manchester-based online retailer Classic Football Shirts.
The blue and red hoops feature a fusion of imagery associated with the Magpies and the festive period, with the ostensibly overlaid crest taking the form of the said bird of the nickname and the “adidas” script of the original design replaced with “advent” [sic].
The focal point - beyond the “[David] GINOLA 14” “print” on the reverse - is surely the conversion of the famous Newcastle Brown Ale branding to “SANTA CLAUS IS COMING TO TOON” encircling a blue Christmas tree in the position once held by a skyline-incorporating star, and the product will become available to buy on Monday 28th October.
