Licensed retro shirt manufacturer Score Draw has today - St George’s Day - launched this mash-up revisiting of the three shirts the England national team took to the iconic Italia ’90 tournament 31 years ago.

Part of Score Draw’s SD90 range (1990 Heritage Collection), the shirt combines the three Umbro designs in a manner inspired by the quintessential Englishness of the Royal Air Force target-styled roundel on Spitfire fighter aircraft in World War II.

The Home - displayed as the filling in a change shirt sandwich here - will bring to mind the tears of Paul “Gazza” Gascoigne and the Three Lions’ exhilarating run to the Semi-Finals in Italy, but the prominent Third perhaps warrants its top and bottoming status here.

Only worn in one full international - and, like the red Away featuring minimally here, not called upon at the World Cup itself - the light-through-an-ash-tray-inspired pattern was perhaps worn best by Bernard Sumner in the ENGLANDneworder “World in Motion…” video. For some the greatest England shirt ever, it invigorates the uniqueness of this hybrid which is finished off with the famous crest, approximation of Umbro sleeve band taping and recognisable collar.
