Ajax and adidas have unveiled a special edition kit to commemorate the club’s 125th anniversary. The design takes inspiration from the first white-red-white kit worn in the 1911/12 season.
Featuring long sleeves, the jersey has a classic buttoned polo collar and an embroidered shield from the coat of arms of Amsterdam on the chest.
The design pays tribute to an early team photo from 1911, taken after Ajax’s victory in the ‘Gouden Kruis’ tournament final. It reflects the club’s evolution, from its original all-black kit to the red-and-white stripes before settling on its now-iconic look.
