Aston Villa have revealed their new away kit for the 23/24 season.

Featuring a unique design, the new away shirt showcases the lions that have been synonymous with Aston Villa throughout its existence. It takes the form of a visual timeline print, narrating the proud journey of the club since its foundation in 1874.

This season, both the playing and training kits display the redesigned crest, paying tribute to the club's European Cup-winning heroes of 1982.

Love the new/old badge. But Castore kits just look cheap and of poor quality. This is right up there with any of their poor kits

Villa are awful, but try and research when Villa was founded compared to Chelsea.

Lion rampant, as in the Scottish emblem.

Villa played in more or less a Scotland kit when they was 1st formed.

Chelsea are a nothing club.

I happen to think this is the perfect way to make a change kit whilst still retaining the essence of the clubs' identity and colours, unlike some random thing that is neon yellow and black.

Interesting fact… re the lions. Millwall were known as the ‘Dockers’ on account of the occupation of most of the club’s fans. But when Millwall beat the mighty Aston Villa of the Victorian period in a FA Cup QF match in 1900 the press gave Millwall the nickname ‘the Lions of the South’… as if the Eastend club had taken it as a prize from Villa for one of the greatest upsets in the famous old cups’ history.

And it stuck.

Millwall were known as the "Dockers" because of the old ground being covered in Dock Leaves and other various weeds. The match mentioned against Aston Villa in 1900 ended in farce when both sets of players were stung by stinging nettles resulting in them running off crying like little girls. Thus the game became known as the "Battle of the Big Girls Blouse's '. The game was abandoned and most of the players went into the hairdressing business, some very successfully. One in particular ,Villa goalkeeper, Maurice Sassoon was the great grandfather of celebrity stylist, Barry Monkton, he of Crossroads fame.

I can imagine this shirt as my Nan's tablecloth. Very insipid and dull. Maybe a banana sandwich and a cup of weak, milky tea on it and a set of false teeth.
