This is the new Santos Futebol Clube third shirt by Umbro.
As part of the British brand’s “Nations 2022” range, the iconic Brazilian side’s release refers to a relationship with Nigeria, and particularly the 1969 match between Santos and a Midwest side in Benin City which has been referred to as provoking a temporary ceasefire in the Nigerian Civil War.
Accordingly, the grey and black design is decorated, to the trunk, with a nod to traditional Nigerian stylings, while Umbro’s branding appears in white and Santos’ famous crest is in its standard form.

“Nigéria 1969” and “O Dia em que a Guerra Parou” (the day the war stopped) are printed on the upper back and the inside of the collar has detailing referring to Nigeria and Africa’s influence on Brazil and the similar footballing playing styles of the two cultures.
The shirt will be worn in the 27th September match against Athetico, being combined with complementing shorts and socks to form a kit.
