Watford 2023-24 Kelme Away Kit

Watford 2023-24 Kelme Away Kit

Watford FC has unveiled their new away kit for the 2023/24 season, a white jersey complemented by burgundy shorts and socks, in collaboration with official technical partner Kelme.

This marks the second white jersey produced by Kelme for the club, evoking fond memories of white Watford away shirts from the past, reminiscent of the 1980s, early 1990s, and even the Championship promotion season of 2020/21.

Featuring a single-button placket on the neckline, the shirt showcases burgundy-coloured highlights in the neck-rib, sleeve, and under-arm areas. The hornet logo graces the back neck, while the club's WE values find their place imprinted in the half-moon inside the shirt.

The jacquard knit fabric ensures a lightweight and breathable feel, while the raglan sleeve and under-arm panels contribute to the jersey's fitted look.

Not what I would first think of for a Watford kit but quite like this ignoring the sponsor. Just above average.

Kelme means "Mighty Tiger Warrior ' in Spanish. The company first built steam traction engines in the 1920's but quickly spread to the textile business. General Franco had many of his uniforms made by the Kelme conglomerate. In 1970, with the influx of US denims, the company folded with record losses. Kelme re-emerged after a chance photograph in 1976 of Elton John wearing a pair of Kelme cowboy boots. The company rights were bought by Hugh Scully and Jeff Lynne of ELO fame and the company was reborn.
