Toulouse 80th Anniversary Joma Retro Shirt

At a press conference held to mark the 80th anniversary of the formation of the original Toulouse Football Club, the modern, homonymous toulousain successor club unveiled a retro shirt in honour of the famous defunct side.

The shirt features the famous purple of Toulouse - a colour the two teams take from the city's violets - but on a more heavy, cotton-like material than with most modern shirts, with a lace-up collar also nodding to the styles of the mid-20th century.

The supporter-selected commemorative crest is heat-adhered, with a soft, flock-style finish, and the original formation year of 1937 appears below.

Additional details betray the shirt's modern production, with heat-transferred scripts of the infamous, and taunting, ""La Garonne est Viola", (The Garonne is purple) war cry, aimed at Girondins de Bordeaux, and the formation year again on the neck. Both are rendered in purple (on purple) in order to be unobtrusive and not take away from the classic look.

The shirt, produced by TFC's current technical partner, Joma, is due to be worn, in some form, on the weekend of 8th April 2017, against Olympique de Marseille. The replica retailed version carries no sponsor names or logos (save from a small Joma sleeve tag), though it remains to be seen if the version carried in the Ligue 1 clash will be presented with more embellishment.
