Birmingham city sign Umbro kit deal 07/08

Birmingham City and Umbro have rekindled their relationship from past years as the two sign a three-year sponsorship deal that will last until the 2009-2010 season.

Umbro’s contract as the club’s exclusive manufacturer of all playing and training supplies harkens back to the 1970s and 1980s, when a similar contract existed between the two.

Birmingham City will be replacing their former supplier, Diadora, to join the ranks of Umbro’s high profile portfolio clubs. This portfolio includes other top league players such as England, Everton, Rangers, West Ham, West Bromwich Albion, Celta Vigo, Lyon, FC Dinamo, Malaga, and CSKA Moscow.

Karren Brady, Birmingham City’s managing director, looks forward to a prosperous future with Umbro and states that: "I'm delighted to be able to announce our partnership with Umbro. We hope this new deal will demonstrate our commitment and ambition as a football club. We have worked extremely hard over the last few months to find a technical partner we feel shares our future aspirations and believe Umbro comes into that category."

Simon Marsh, director of football at Manchester based Umbro says, "To add a progressive club like Birmingham City to our list of clubs we supply kit to is fantastic news for the brand and it provides Umbro with a further platform in the Midlands."

Karren Brady welcomed the deal, hoping that Umbro "…will take our merchandise to a new level in relation to value and quality." She went on to further praise the company: "Umbro is not only an internationally recognised brand, but also a leading figure in the world of football."
