For the next year United's distinctive black and amber striped home shirt will bear the name and logo of Global Self Drive, who will also provide the club with a new minibus for the players as part of their sponsorship.

Last season's home sponsors, the estate agency firm haart, have been permitted to withdraw from the second year of their sponsorship due to the depressed state of the housing market.

CUFC Chairman Philip Law explained, "haart were good to us over the shirt sponsorship for the Play-off Final at Wembley, when they stepped aside to allow our long-standing away sponsors Kershaw to have their logo on the shirts that day, and we have reciprocated by letting them out of the second year of their sponsorship."

Law added, "Global are based in Mercers Row, which is just a stone's throw from the ground, so it's great to have their local support.

"Whilst the deal is initially only for one year we hope that this will be the start of a long-term relationship and that Global will want to continue when the new first team strip is launched new season."

Cambridge United appreciate that this change will inconvenience a large number of supporters who have purchased replica home shirts bearing the haart logo. However this is a situation where the club had to maximise its revenue given the predicament in which haart find themselves.cambridge_united.jpg

They are currently looking into the possibility of offering to cover the haart logo on all home shirts with the new logo for Global Self Drive.

The new home kit will be worn for the first time in the first home game of the season on Tuesday 12th August, at home to Kidderminster Harriers.

Although they had an away kit vote earlier, for the forthcoming season they plan to wear the black and amber Home shirts for as many away games as possible, and a new black and white Kershaw logo has been designed for the shirts .

For those away games when they cannot wear the black and amber shirt due to a clash with the home club's shirt, they will a the white away kit.
