"The decision in choosing a new kit supplier has taken time and we had many offers on the table from several suppliers, including a deal with our existing manufacturer."

"Right from the start of the tender process, Nike stood out from the other deals."

"It was important however to find the right deal for the Club and the fans, and not to be swayed simply by brand power. After a series of meetings over recent weeks, Nike demonstrated that they had the passion, desire and commitment to work with Doncaster Rovers and we are delighted to be able to associate the Club with such a powerful brand. To be able to attract a company like Nike to Doncaster Rovers shows how far the Club have come in recent years and highlights our status as an established Championship club."

The deal involves a tie up with Nike's football partners Just Sport Pro Club, who will be undertaking a refurbishment of the Club Shop at the Keepmoat Stadium, which will be ready in time for the new season. Managing Director Peter Crawford said:

"We are pleased to welcome Doncaster Rovers into the Nike family, and look forward to developing a close relationship with the Club over the next three seasons. Doncaster Rovers are a club with a fine tradition with passionate supporters and we look forward to delivering them the Nike brand."

As a result of the Club signing the new deal, two new Doncaster Rovers kits for the upcoming campaign will also be unveiled in the coming weeks. Don't forget to keep checking YOUR Official Website over the course of the summer for glimpses of the new Rovers kits and for the grand unveiling!

This is the third major commercial signing that has been announced by Doncaster Rovers during the close-season and comes off the back of One Call Insurance becoming the Club's Main Sponsor and Moss Properties agreeing to sponsor the Club's shorts from next season.

Oh no, just...no. Generic template, just another tragic story of a british club ditching dedicated kit makers for big fatcat brands that will basically shun and ignore. Nah this needs to stop! Stories like this are just fail! No disrespect to other smaller british clubs who have decided to sign with Nike but if you want predictable, crappy catalogue sunday league kits with no originality outcome and basically conning your own b*o*d* fans then be my guest. We need more outside kit makers coming in the scene, the likes of Burrda, ISC and Xtep coming in was nice to see, but just more please?

I agree that Nike isn't doing anything very original these days but I was thinking at least the quality would be better than Vandanel.

Will probably be the Nike "Hoop II" template - although with Doncaster it could be any style of shirt, they've changed their home colours so often it's hard to keep up with whether they are wearing hoops, stripes, solid red or plain white home kits.

I can safely say these won't be anything cutting edge. Just a generic red and white hopped shirt from Nikes basics range.

I've got mixed opinions about this.

I hate big corporations slowly taking over the football world, making more and more club's kits until there is no originality anywhere.

But Vandanel show no origiinality themselves and their kits are shoddy.

Should be an improvement from the Vandanel kits that were the worst in the Championship. Looking forward to seeing the design.
