Lausanne had only lost out 1-0 in Amsterdam to the three-time European Cup winners and so returned to Switzerland with hope.
That was soon dashed here though with Ajax rampant. Goals from Erkens, Clarke and Arnesen in the first half put the tie to bed with Clarke then adding a fourth late on. Monteleone joined the action as a 48th minute substitute for Cornioley.
