El Salvador 1982 player shirt by Adidas believed to have been match worn by Zapata in the 1982 World Cup Group 3 match against Belgium played at Nuevo Estadio, Elche on the 19th June '82.
This was El Salvador's second ever trip to a World Cup Final's after 1970 and the nations last to date.
La Selecta could not have possibly gotten off to a worse start though here in Spain having lost their opening match by the biggest scoreline in World Cup Final's history, 10-1 to Hungary. In that momentous game László Kiss had also scored the only World Cup hat-trick by a substitute and the fastest World Cup hat-trick too. So the side would have feared the worst when they went 1-0 against Belgium inside 19 minutes here but they put in a sterling effort and did not conceding again giving the Euro 80 finalists a real test. Zapata played the full match in an attacking midfield role. The forward featured in all three of El Salvador's group games at the tournament as did this white Adidas design which bowed out in a 2-0 defeat to Argentina in Alicante.
