Northern Ireland 1984 player shirt by Adidas believed to have been issued to Penney for the 1986 World Cup Qualification Group 3 match against Finland played at Windsor Park, Belfast on the 14th November '84.
Northern Ireland had been defeated in Pori in their opening match but had beaten Gheorghe Hagi's Romania in Belfast in their last game.
There was a chance for revenge against Finland here and Billy Bingham's men took it but they had to come from a goal behind in order to do it. Lipponen put the visitors ahead before John O'Neill equalised on the stroke of half-time and then Gerry Armstrong found a winner from the penalty spot in the second half. Penney was an unused substitute for this game but did represent his country 17 times between 1984-88 and won a place in the squad for the 1986 World Cup as the Green and White Army went on to successfully qualify for the tournament.
Correct player size flock Adidas print professionally machine stitched, fully embroidered crest and Adidas logo, fleece lined material, long sleeved version not commercially available, swapped with a Finland player and come from their personal collection - a signed letter verifying this will be provided.
