Hamburg SV 87/88 player shirt by Adidas believed to have been issued for the Cup Winners Cup 2nd Round 2nd leg match against Ajax played at De Meer on the 3rd November 1987.
This design was only used in the second half of the match with the side changed from their 87-88 blue away shirt into this older design at half-time, the reason for them doing this is unclear.

HSV were 1-0 at the time of the change following Arnold Mühren's 13th minute goal which left them with a mountain to climb following the 1-0 defeat they had suffered in the 1st leg. Unfortunately they could not find a way back in the 2nd half and Hennie Meijer added a second for the hosts late on. A #14 was not used in this game, Bruno Labbadia was the only substitute used and he wore #13. The result ended the sides interest in the competition for this year, the '87 DFB Pokal winners had beaten Avenir Beggen in the 1st Round.
Correct player size flock print professionally heat pressed, embroidered crest machine stitched and light transfer Adidas trefoil, made from 62% polyester and 38% cotton, design not commercially available, swapped with an Ajax player and comes from their collection - a signed letter verifying this can be provided.
