Franz Beckenbauer's men really needed to get back to winning ways here and that is exactly what they did, thrashing Finland 6-1 with Möller, Littbarski, Klinsmann, Völler and Matthäus all on the scoresheet. Reuter played the full match at right back in a defence of Brehme, Buchwald and Augenthaler. The DFB went on to qualify for Italia '90 as runners-up but come the following summer they would be World Champions once again and Reuter was a part of that glorious squad. This all-time great Adidas design was worn at Euro '88 right through to qualification for Euro '92. Reuter won 69 caps and played at four major international tournaments for his country.
