It was a hard fought group in which the purple & whites beat the holders Red Star Belgrade but were edged out of a place in the Final by Sampdoria who defeated them home and away. Bosman made 6 appearances in the competition scoring 1 goal in this season. The striker went on to spend 5 years at the Constant Vanden Stock Stadium and represented Holland 30 times scoring 17 goals, picking up a winners medal at Euro 88.
