IFK Gothenburg 1992-93 player shirt by Adidas believed to have been match worn by Mild in the Champions League Group B match against PSV played at the PSV Stadion, Eindhoven on the 3rd March '93.
IFK had defeated Besktas and Lech Poznan to qualify for the first ever group stage of the newly formed Champions League format. At this stage of the competition a Champions League sleeve patch was introduced and sponsors logos were prohibited by UEFA.
The Swedish champions were in great form and came from behind here to impressively dispatch the hosts with a 3-1 victory. Nilsson and an Ekström brace wrapped things up before half-time. The midfielder Mild played the full match and was establishing himself as an international star also going on to play at the '94 World Cup and represent Sweden 74 times in a stellar career. In the reverse match between the two sides a fortnight later the side wore shirts with the three Adidas stripes on the sleeves as they cruised to a 3-0 triump to put pressure on group leaders AC Milan. Unfortunately the Italian masters were just too good and they progressed to the Final after coming top.
