This was the first time the nation's had met since the 1950 World Cup.
Like then Spain were convincing winners seeing off the American's 2-0 with goals from Beguiristain and Hierro. The side wore this superb Adidas design for the last time in the game. This subtle classic was the first shirt the German manufacturers had made for Spain since the 1982 World Cup and did not last long before being replaced by the new Adidas Equipment template.
