The score was 0-0 at half-time but the hosts showed their class early in the second half and wrapped up a 2-0 win with a quick-fire double from Staelens and Degryse. The Anderlecht star centre back Albert played the full match. De Rode Duivels went on to qualify for USA '94 tied on the same points with Romania. Albert's great form saw him snapped up by Newcastle United after the World Cup and he went on to become a cult hero on Tyneside. This is the first Diadora production for Belgium who had worn Adidas kits since the early 80's.
