Up for auction on Ebay : Liverpool FC Match worn 1985 European Cup Final Goalkeeper Shirt
The seller added the following : This auction is for a liverpool, match worn 1985 european cup final shirt. It is made by adidas, has the number 1 on the back and was worn in the final by the Goalkeeper Bruce Grobbelaar. The adidas logo is printed on the shirt and the liverbird is fully embroidered along with the words 'european cup final 1985'. the tag on the neck states the size as Large, this is consistent with match issue/worn shirts as the measurments in inches and centimetres were not stated on the tag. The shirt is in excellent condition considering it is 0ver 20 yrs old, it has a little damage on the Left shoulder of the shirt where a small piece of stitching has come away on the 3 stripes of the addidas, this must have occured during the match as the shirt has been immaculatly cared for since the final.

This was the first time in their history that liverpool had worn adidas, and to add to the rariety of the shirt there were no more than 2 of these ever made, one with a number 1 on the reverse and the other with 17 even less than the champions league final shirts of today when many replicas and match issue shirts are produced. i was only able to obtain this through a extended member of my family who is Roy Evans, he was issued with his own shirt but also obtained Bruce's shirt to pass onto me as he knew i collected them. i will provide a letter with the shirt signed by mr Evans which proves beyond all doubt that this shirt is the genuine article.
since i have been selling off some of the things i have collected i have recieved hundreds of inquiries with many different valuations and offers for this shirt in particular. for a shirt like this it is so hard to put a value on it, and i genuinely don't know what its worth so in the interest of fairness thats why i've put it on ebay. i have only ever seen this in the club museum and it was from the time of dalglish, fagan, paisley and all the proper liverpool legends so i know it will be worth good money. to be honest, i want as much as possible, but idealy i would like the shirt to have a good home. i fully intend to let the auction run so please bid if you are interested, but i also have the shirt advertised in other places so i reserve the right to pull the auction at any time. please dont email me about other stuff i have/had because most of it is gone, and the little bits and pieces that are left will go onto to ebay in the coming weeks and months. if you have a genuine question about the item or its validity, i'd be only too happy to answer it without a problem.
last thing, obviously this was an iconic final for the wrong reasons, and ultimately a very sad occaison for all concerned. i mean no disrespect to the 39 who lost their lives or anybody who was troubled by events that day. i am simply selling a few old liverpool items that i don't need anymore. so, along i'm sure with every liverpool supporter out there, i offer my sympathy to anyone who looks at the auction and has any bad memories from the time come back to them.
