Up for auction on ebay : Match Worn Roy Evans 1981 League Cup Final Shirt
The seller added the following : This auction is for a Liverpool , match issue 1981 league cup final shirt. It is made by umbro, and was issued to the coaching staff. The umbro logo and the liver bird are fully embroidered. Around the liver bird are the words football league cup final 1981, this is in the same style as the 1977 european cup final shirt , and makes the shirt incredibly rare. The tag on the neck states the size as os mens which stands for outsized or oversized mens, this is consistent with match issue/worn shirts as the measurements in inches and centimetres were not stated on the tag, and the size os mens was only found on match issue shirts. The shirt has no number on the back, but was worn on the bench that day by Roy Evans.
This was the first time Liverpool won the league cup and this final was replayed against west ham where they wore white shirts in the second game, and to add to the rarity of the shirt there were no more than 20 of these ever made for the first game at wembley, and none produced as replicas. I was only able to obtain this through an extended member of my family, Roy Evans, who was issued with this shirt as all the coaching staff were and he passed onto me as he knew I collected them. I will provide a letter with the shirt signed by Mr. Evans which proves beyond all doubt that this shirt is the genuine article.
Since I have been selling off some of the things I have collected I have received hundreds of inquiries with many different valuations and offers for this and other rare shirts. For a shirt like this it is so hard to put a value on it, I genuinely don't know what its worth so in the interest of fairness that’s why I’ve put it on eBay. I have seen this shirt sell on eBay once in ten years and it was from the time of dalglish, fagan, paisley and all the proper Liverpool legends so I know it will be worth good money. To be honest, I want as much as possible, but ideally I would like the shirt to have a good home.
