Up for auction : Orginal Jimmy Greaves Match Worn Shirt Early-Mid 1960's

The seller added the following: An original Tottenham Hotspurs Football Shirt circa 1962/3 - 1965/6,..JIMMY GREAVES MATCH WORN FOOTBALL SHIRT..with Cockerill in a shield top right breast pocket, this type of club enblem was used from the early 1960's to 1966 ,then the enblem changed to a cockerill on a ball, signed underneath by Jimmy Greaves..signature obtained last year at the 100 year centenary of barnstaple football club...number 8 to rear, this has the original cross-stitched design(see photo)which was used in the 1960's to affix numbers to shirts,it has a round neck , a label on the inside of the neck which reads UMBRO in white on a black background..

and an orange 38 tag under this..the neck has 2 slight pulls, both 1 inch in length where the stitching has been pulled apart, nothing serious but left this way as totally geniune, there are 2 slight stains(both 1/2 inch long) to the left main body of the shirt, and a few speckled dots(top right sleeve)which appear like rust marks, they are only surface marks and would probably wash out,as this shirt has never been washed in the past 40 odd years.and the person i bought from assures me that it had been in his wardbrobe 40 years or more..

i obtained this shirt 3 years ago from him,he is an ardent tottenham hotspur supporter who supported the spurs from the late 1950's thro to the early 1980's,he managed to obtain this shirt from a friend of his wife, who used to work in the laundry at white heart lane,he was married in the late 1950's and tells me that she liberated the shirt for him as a anniversery present, but he cannot remember the year,on the bottom of the seem there is a A marked in black, which has faded over the years and a X on the reverse, the history of the shirt certainly goes back to the early mid 1960's as the enblem, slight wear, the smell of the shirt, even the feel of the shirt ,everything is right about it,i'm told by numerous historians, whom i've spoken to about this shirt, tell me the shirts from this era were worn day in ,day out, until they were only fit only for rags,if anybody can help trace the year,or at least narrow it down, please email me,i will supply a written C.O.A with this shirt, documenting it's history as explained above,i will be happy to answer any questions, but please no silly buy it now questions..

Hey just came across your jimmy greaves shirt whilst looking for a father\'s day present. My dad is a HUGE spurs fan and became one due to the influence of Jimmy Greaves his favourite player and so this shirt really would be the perfect gift for him. However I am at university and on a very low budget as apparently these student loans don\'t last forever! How much would you be wanting to sell for?Hope you\'re groovyYoursLaura
