Hellas Verona 1987-88 player shirt by Hummel believed to have been match worn by Volpati in the UEFA Cup 2nd Round ties with Utrecht played in October & November 1987.
The 1st leg in Holland finished in 1-1 draw with van Ginkel quickly cancelling out Berthold's opener. In Verona the scoreline was the same deep into the 2nd leg when a Verrips own goal put the Gialloblu ahead and into the 3rd Round.
Volpati played the full 90 minutes of both encounters. The side went on to reach the Quarter Finals before losing out to Werder Bremen in what was only the club's second European adventure and the last time to date they qualified for continental competition. Volpati was a hero of the 84-85 Scudetto winning team and spent 6 years at the Bentegodi.
