San José came through the Castilla youth system and made his first team debut in '76, quickly establishing himself as a regular and going on to win 10 major honours in his 10 years at the Bernabeu. The club's shirts were made by Spanish manufacturer Mont-halt at this time, a deal which remained in place until 1980 when Adidas took over and two years later Zanussi became the first sponsors logo to appear on the famous white shirt.
