England were just about able to see them off though, winning 1-0 with a first half goal by captain David Platt. The talented midfielder Adepoju started the match and played for 85 minutes, he had been a part of the USA 94 squad and made 48 appearances in total for the Super Eagles between 1990-02, going to the '98 & '02 World Cup's also. This was the first and only outing for the sides new Nike home kit which shared the same design template as Borussia Dortmund but was not available commercially unfortunately like the previous Adidas kit had been. The kitroom seemingly had problems with the new Nike name sets with some players shirts having plain numbers to different style. The design was taken to the '95 Confederations Cup but the away shirt was used in all three matches there with no Nike swoosh on the numbers making this shirt a real one-off.
