The last time the two sides met Brazil handed out a 7-0 hammering in Uberlândia but here they were shocked by Jack Charlton's men who grabbed a famous win thanks to a beautiful goal by legend Liam Brady. The side were in between matches at the Rous Cup against England and Scotland and popped over to Dublin to keep the talent rich side fresh. One thing to remember about the game from a Brazilian point of view was the debut of none other than Romario who came on after 68 minutes to make his first international appearance. Paulo Silas started the game for his 7th cap and went on to represent his country 34 times in total going to both Mexico '86 and Italia '90.
