Liverpool 1973-74 player shirt by Umbro believed to have been match worn by Smith in the 1973-74 season.
The Liverpool-born Smith came through the club's youth system and made his first team debut back in 1963.
From 64-65 onwards he was a first team regular capable of playing anywhere across the backline and this season was no different, making 49 appearances in all competitions. Smith won his second FA Cup in this campaign also as The Reds thashed Newcastle 3-0 at Wembley. This was the first season that the team played with an Umbro logo on their shirts and the kit was only worn for this one campaign with this style of diamond. Smith bolstered his trophy cabinet as the decade wore on and also spent some time over in the NASL with Tampa Bay Rowdies and the LA Aztecs. The Anfield hero retired in 1979 with four league titles, two FA Cup's and UEFA Cup's and the European Cup in '77 and would go into most peoples all-time Liverpool XI.
