The '91 FA Cup winners had lost out 1-0 in Rotterdam in the 1st leg to a Jozsef Kiprich strike. Here in the 2nd leg Peter Shreeves' side tried in vain to find an equaliser and the match ended in an agonising 0-0 draw which saw Spurs exit the competition.

It was Tottenham's first European campaign for 6 years and despite a potent strikeforce of Lineker and Durie they just could not find a way past the resolute Dutch outfit in 180 minutes of action. Allen played the full match and would go on to be a regular again for the side in 92-93 before leaving for Southampton after 8 seasons of service.
