Unfortunately there were only three England games at Euro 92 as Graham Taylor's side were beaten by the hosts after drawing with Denmark and France. Platt had given England the lead in Solna before Brolin and Dahlin famously teamed up to devastating effect and with Gary Lineker infamously subbed for Alan Smith in what was to be his last ever appearance it was a tournament of bad memories for England fans. Platt overcame the disappointment of Sweden, signed for Juventus and went on to win 62 caps for the Three Lions scoring 27 goals in his careeer which made him the then second highest ever midfield goalscorer after Bobby Charlton.
