Manchester United 1995-96 Away player shirt by Umbro believed to have been issued to Thornley for the 1995-96 season.
The highly rated Thornley made his first team debut in 93-94 after coming through the club's youth ranks but suffered a serious injury soon after which sadly hampered his devolopment and with United going from strength to strength it was a hard enough task as it was to secure a regular starting place.
Thornley made one appearance for the club in this season, a 2-1 victory over Old Trafford in August before going out on loan to Stockport and Huddersfield to get more playing time. The Red Devils famously went on to win back their Premier League crown coming from behind to send Kevin Keegan and Newcastle into despair. This infamous grey kit was worn on 5 occasions the last of which being the legendary match at The Dell when with United 3-0 down at half-time Fergie ordered the team to change their kit for the second half. Thornley represented England U-21's at the Toulon Tournament in the summer of '96 and went on to play for United 4 more times in 96-97 and 8 in 97-98 before leaving to join Huddersfield.
